I agree with poseur and kijjalyn. Plus, I love to see how shameless these companies are.

How is that vulgar?
That was a very interesting article. I am shocked, as well, at the whole concept (a dress for $9?!), but obviously it's doing well. And it's good to know there's no sweat shops involved. hoo-ray to being different and making money!

I say do whatever makes you happy. If you want to make a statement and show up in Gap, then go for it and wear it proud. If you want to utilize the awesome and willing designers at your disposal, then that works too.

I know, Holly. Where were all the super heroes!? I saw Caroline Trentini who looked 'fierce' in her super hero getup. Christina Ricci looked like Wonder Woman. Naomi Watts looked pretty cool in her super heroine get up and Anna Wintour looked like a futuristic hero. And of course you can't forget Zac and Kate Mara as Superman.
Am I missing the other heroes?
On a side note, how hot did coco and anja look in Pucci!?

But it's still one more step the counterfeiter has to make in producing this, so it might jack the counterfeit price up and consumers will be more discerning and realize it isn't worth it to buy the fake. :? Wishful thinking?

Wow, she's impressively eloquent. My favorite part was the last minute or so. It's so true that these disorders do have lifelong effects - which, infertility might not mean much to a 16 year old, but 15 years down the road when they're married and ready to start a family, it could mean a whole lot. I'm proud of her for speaking out and doing it so well.

"I totally believe models shouldn't risk their health and it seems that is a problem, but all their other points are invalid when you consider the amount of obese people and the 100x larger effect that has."
If we were to use that logic in all areas of our lives, very little would get done. Starving children is a larger problem than children with cancer, so let's fix the starving part before we help the cancer kids?
I agree with you that obesity is a BIGGER problem (pun sort of intended) but I think eating disorders is equally important to be brought to the attention and forefront. We can't ignore one problem because another has a larger effect.
I also don't think anyone is arguing that people can't be naturally thin, it's the whole not having a period and hair falling out that alarms me.
And having an eating disorder is not a pretty story, so just because we're not hearing it from models/people/actors from the past or present doesn't mean it's not going on.
(selina I'm not trying to attack you, I just think you brought up a lot of great points and I wanted to engage you!) :)

yeah I agree with guest @ 223... there is life outside of Manhattan.
But I also think that the Internet has had a huge affect on people learning about fashion that cannot experience it first hand (i.e. at fashion shows). Even still, this is definitely NOT a NEW phenomenon.
And, what kind of tank do you drive that it costs a marc dress to fill up!? :p
Also, this so called crashing economy has has absolutely no effect on my household spending whatsoever.
