Honestly, it depends on my mood, my outfit and what image I'm trying to convey (pointy shoes, I think, give off a more aggressive, confident vibe, whereas round toe shoes are more casual and approachable).

my bestest and i have, once or twice, gotten the SAME EXACT item, but it's never been a problem because we rock them differently, so no one really notices, and it's not a problem.
also, there's a difference between someone knowingly copying you and someone just having the same idea...

"Sew U," the Built by Wendy how-to book looks like a good start to make your own clothing. It comes with patterns and seems really user friendly. I have yet to try it though, since I'm so pressed for time!!

guest @ 1:04 - of course they didn't mock the fat girl, they're on tv! besides, even if they weren't, they probably wouldn't do it to her face anyway, at least not overtly (unless they're absolutely cruel)

a men's shirt by itself as a dress totally works -- as long as you're the right height. this look is best left to petite girls.

totally cute!! but even better if they were in red...
aside from the cost (poor college kid here), my only concern is that it'd make me look juvenile, which i'm trying to avoid since i look 12 and am graduating this year.

Hmm...an increase in cotton production might make the price go down, but I don't know if that would necessarily a be good thing for the environment. No one says that cotton growers would be raising organic crops and I doubt that cotton production would significantly increase in the U.S. should this "trend" take hold, which could mean that a bunch of developing countries would be doing it instead and possibly destroying their environment. Also Cambridge's study on fast fashion concluded that cotton used up a lot of energy, more so than vicose, since it usually went through a dryer as well as washing machine. I get that vicose isn't the same as cashmere, but considering that you're supposed to hand-wash and then hang-dry cashmere (and thus use up less energy and water to take care of it), I wonder if increased cotton consumption is actually better for the environment?
But then again, this is just an initial, half-baked thought, so take this as you will...

Honestly, I don't think Sarah knows nor cares enough about fashion to spot a fake Speedy. That doesn't mean she doesn't care about counterfeit laws, she just might not be able to tell the difference (assuming, of course, that she was the one who got in the first place and it wasn't a gift or whatever). Also, wearing non-American designers on the campaign trail doesn't mean she's unpatriotic and "doesn't care" about American talent (we're not even sure she picked out her own clothes yet!). To be quite honest, it's really unfair to judge Palin and her views based on a picture of her kid carrying a bag. If you're going to criticize her, do it on her past record and what she's actually doing and saying (or not). Don't judge her viability as a candidate on her ability to spot counterfeit bags or her knowledge of a recent law and court ruling that no one outside the fashion industry knows (or even cares) about. There are more important things to think about this election.
I love fashion, and I find the prospect of a McCain/Palin administration (or a Palin presidency?!) unsettling, but we need to stop being so petty to female candidates, otherwise we're just reinforcing nasty double standards and delaying equal representation in the government.

I was walking in Chelsea once, on the way back from an internship interview, when I caught sight of Coco Rocha, who was about to walk past me. I did a double-take since I wasn't sure it was her at first, but when I realized it was, she looked my way, and I looked away and tried to play it cool even though I was totally "OMG!" inside.
I pretty much did the same thing when I saw Aggy in St. Mark's a few months later, except it was super quick so I didn't even bother to hide the fact that I recognized her.
