The Murakami Movie!

murakami-vuitton.jpg
This weekend, we heard from a Hollywood friend that Kirsten Dunst is the front runner to play Vivienne Westwood in her biopic. We adore Kirsten, but we don’t see the match - Emily Blunt or Kate Winslet could be so much stronger.

To distract ourselves from the idea of Kirsten making out with Malcolm McLaren (who will probably be played by Hayden Christiansen, if this vein of casting continues), we’re fixating on this news from Marc Malkin:

Jeffrey Katzenberg is hotly pursuing Takashi Murakami to make an animated film, and it looks like the deal will happen.

Katzenberg was seen congratulating Mr. Murakami after his recent show at the MoCA, and sources say he’s keen to work with the Dreamworks head on a future Hollywood project - citing the best-selling success of Murakami’s Louis Vuitton bags from 2003 as proof that Murakami could make box office gold. The Japanese artist also worked with Kanye West on his latest album cover.

News of a Murakami movie leads us to imagine a series of Murakami / Dreamworks toys, as well as a Murakami Happy Meal, which could either increase the value of a Louis Vuitton Murakami bag…

Or make all those former sorority girls furious that they spent $1000 on a print they can soon find at McDonalds.

Um fingers crossed that Dunst doesn't get that role, so unfitting and she's a shit actress.

Will Kanye West play himself in the Murakami movie? hmmmm

Put some funky glasses, dumpy clothes, and wacked out hair and --voila!--Kirsten Dunst IS Vivienne Westwood. I definitely could see it. As for Murakami, ... he's not over yet?

No, I have to disagree with everyone's assessment of K. Dunst. SHe is a fantastic actress. I dislike the way she looks, the way she presents herself, but her acting is great. Emily Blunt isnt strong enough and Kate Winslet is a bit one dimensional even though both of them look the part a little more.
