Sassy: The Whole Thing

Jul 23, 2007 @ 4:15pm

sassyCover.jpg1992 was a funny year.

The 90210 fragrance just came out, I was playing with Trolls and watching Blossom on Monday nights, and every cool kid kept their makeup in a Caboodles

And Sassy magazine was there, covering it all.

We know you already saw the Sassy spread of Chloe Sevigny today, but after a few emails - and a few chapters of the new book, How Sassy Changed My Life, we knew:

We had to post the magazine - in its entirety.

We also scanned a couple ads, just so you don't forget what Nikki Taylor looked like as the face of Cover Girl, or that Rebecca Gayheart, before being Mrs. McSteamy, was the Noxzema girl.

Check out Blossom herself on the cover - and the accompanying story: "Mayim Bialik is not a Dog!"

You won't see that headline in Teen Vogue...

When are they going to issue a full bound reprint of Sassy? Like that giant New Yorker book or Punk magazine?

What is up with publishing pictures of people with their eyes closed?

Is that Christina applegate as christine?

wow. for some mysterious reason, that issue never arrived in my mailbox. i remember my embarassment when one of the popular girls in homeroom turned around, asked to borrow my copy, and then promptly returned it because it wasn't the one with mayam bialik on the cover.

i'd always wondered on what i missed out on...

This is absolutely awesome. The sad thing is that back then most teen magazines were way cooler, the Seventeen from the early 90's and the one from now are so completely different its scary. Back then I learned about Sonic Youth and Welcome to the Dollhouse, now, they have girls from Laguna Beach and Fergie on the cover.

I feel sorry for the new generation.

I totally killed my eyes trying to read the article on why you should attend an all-women's college.

I distinctly remember the reasons why I went to mine and, uh, none of those reasons were even close.

Women AND horses? $25K a year? FUCK YEAH!

The sad thing is, my family thought it was a great idea. I bet they're kicking themselves now.

-->And I still hate REM for 'Automatic for the People. Monster was SOOO much better. And that Blind Melon album will forever be a classic for me.

That was great! I was a junior in college when that issue came out, but I still read Sassy. However, how unfortunate that they gave the Blind Melon album four stars, and that Glenn Quinn is dead.

Actually, that's Lauren Davis throughout the whole spread, I think . . . only two models are credited. She's just less recognizable in the other shots. For whatever reason . . .

Gosh I feel like I'm in Junior High all over again. Great memories and always looked forward the issue featuring the "Coolest Girl in America".

Sassy was great at helping kids with no connections land a job in a fashion magazine.

Did anyone notice in the perfume article that Chloe Sevigny is one of the panelists? She's listed as "17, high school senior." How cool is that?!
