Adventures in Copyrights: It’s Just Too Easy

my bologna has a first name, its a-l-i-s-o-n.jpg We’d never pay $650 for an espadrille, even if it was made by Christian Louboutin.

But that doesn’t mean we’d buy a blatant knockoff either - and we were shocked when we saw their latest incarnation on the pop shopping site, Oh Deer.

Dubbed “The Chloe” (Sevigny? Philo?), this shoe has the same raffia trim, heel height, and back strap - and the red sole underneath is only slightly different than the Louboutin original shade, which is somewhere between lipstick and blood.

As for where you can wear a straw-wrapped black patent leather stiletto, whether real or fake, your options seem to be… anywhere in LA, as long as you dress it down with denim and black…

Or while riding a giant plastic tube of M.A.C Viva Glam lipstick in your underwear.

Either way, you might be better off with a pair of cute French Soles…

It's so funny Oh Deer directly knocks off Christian Louboutin shoes and gets away with it so easily. And the shoes themselves are cute, but, as you said, patent leather+raffia=where do you wear them? As I could never afford $650 shoes I'd rather go with the Oh Deer's which are probably somewhere near $100. And the funny thing on their site is nearly everything is sold out... I guess there's a really big market for Louboutin knockoffs. ;)

They stock them at a local boutique in my town right next to the Jimmy Choos. Never fails to make me laugh/cry.

The Audrey on Oh Deer also has the red sole - interesting, and they are much more pratical material wise. http://www.ohdeershoes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=73_175&products_id=282

Isn't there a Jessica Simpson shoe similar to these that was sold at like Nordstroms and Lord & Taylor on sale for like nothing at the end of last summer?

Honestly, why would you pay 650 when you can get the exactly same thing for 100?

Knockoffs are bad, yes, but they do prove that designer prices are completely ridiculous; they demonstrate that you can get the same look for a fraction of the price.

I have the Oh Deers in red, I couldn't help it. They were on sale at Urban Outfitters for $54. I know I will never afford the real thing, so Oh Deer will do for now.
