We still think fondly of our purple beaded jellies from childhood, but can plastic shoes really cut it out on the mean streets of New York?
Pros:
Way cheaper than shoes by the same designer that are not made out of plastic.
The Marc by Marc ones! The Marc Jacobs ones! The bow on the Ferragamo jellies!!
You can wear them in the rain and not worry about ruining them.
Easy to clean if they get dirty.
Possibly eco-friendly? Do animals die for your jellies? I don’t think so.
Cons:
You are still paying at least $100 for shoes that are made from a petroleum byproduct. (The Ferragamo ones are $100 and the M by MJ pair are $105).
They make your feet smell really bad because they don’t breathe.
The sole is usually also made out of plastic, so it gets ripped up if you try to wear them while pounding the pavement in your neighborhood. May only be wearable only on sand. (I guess this could also be a pro if it means you spend more time talking long walks on the beach and whatnot.)
We can’t really make up our mind about the jelly situation. Is it worth it, or is it a total rip off?
