Is Jaslene America's Next Top Model?

Sure she has the title, but does Jaslene Gonzalez have the talent to win more than a reality show?

Her first big shoot for Seventeen is out, and for now, our verdict is no.

There’s something about her face that doesn’t quite translate onto a huge page, which makes us wonder how her Cover Girl ad will go down (and speaking of Cover Girl, the company does have a two-page ad in the magazine, but it’s with our favorite pop star, Rihanna).

Jaslene does give an honest - and funny! - interview to editor Carissa Rosenberg, but we wonder how far she’ll go in the industry with these shots. Maybe a less commercial magazine can use her razored beauty in a more compelling way… or become more of a TV fixture, since we all know she looks amazing when the cameras are rolling.

YIKES-she looks terrible. maybe it is the fact that she is seventeen..hopefully she gets work in an authentic fashion mag where they can really work with her features- lip gloss is not her look. ..i think she will do better in a better magazine! good luck jaslene!!

Ouch, these are terrible photos of her! I still contend that Renee or Natasha should have won. Ever since ANTM crowned Nicole in Cycle 5, their Top Model winners have been going downhill...

If you think these are bad, you should see the ones in last week's In Touch--truly terrible.

She also looks older than Renee in these--and far older and more worn out in the In Touch photos.

whoa. the 'highlight your natural beauty' photo is ROUGH! these are not the best pics but i agree that she has potential. shes got a nice body and sharp features. i think theres a bit of hope for her still!

Oof. I don't know what it is about her. Maybe its the hard features combined with the butt chin. :( I feel shallow now. I'm sure she's a very nice person!

She looks terrible! I wasn't super impressed with any of the models this cycle, but of the remaining three, my vote went to Rene. Natasha seemed super fake (although maybe that was a cultural thing?) and I thought Jaslene was a bit fake as well.

I seriously wonder what Tyra thought when she saw these shots... :)

Those are awful :( Jaslene took amazing shots all through the competition, those look like a high schooler doing her own makeup and getting friends to take the pictures. No way she'll have a career after that :(

i think she is definitely interesting looking and talented at taking pictures..not the seventeen pictures..too skinny. i just really like her..i think if you put her in more editorial shot, they could do so much with her looks

I agree that Jaslene's definitely had better shoots - this one, unfortunately, was pretty poorly executed! but I think the girl still has potential...let's see what she does next.

omg. u ppl this eyebrow thing. get over yourselves. with that said, these pictures really aren't her best. However, no one can ignore the fact that she had great pictures i nthe competition. She clearly just needs another editorial. I personally think she deserved to win because she did have great pictures and her walk was better than natasha or renee's walk. and renee was just a witch and I'm glad she's gone.

renee was an old and manipulative whore
natasha was clueless and fat
if anyone could have won over jaslene it would have been felicia or... felicia
lets not give jaslene too much hate
she blew the competition out of the water during her cycle
her last three inside the mag are not bad shots at all
and cute somewhat
the cover was not hot but its not her job to pick her best photos
its someone elses
as for nicole.... lisa was great but none of them could handle nik pace
lets just get over the bull$hit and congratulate one of few winners of antm that absolutely deserved the win
to be real
adrienne was ok
yoanna had face but april was the best
eva had personality but couldnt deal with yaya photographically (or amanda for that matter)
naima is exotic but had nothing on brittany
(ebony had bone structure... too bad her attitude sucked)
nicole was useless (even though she got better after the win)
but nik and lisa outposed the hell out of her
danielle was great.... like cycle 3, the competition was FIERCE
and even though melrose should have won cycle seven... it was a horrible cycle so who gave a dang...(wobbley runway, space cylinder, gender swap, the list goes on) but caridee had the look and antm clearly led melrose on
but no one could out work jaslene
and lets not act like renee was good the whole way through
cause if u review her first three photos
she sucked
and natasha was very likable but lets be real
she was a little large on the runway
jaslene has a hate squad
to all of you
please try to stay off of its roster

People need to stop hating on my girl Jasmene. The girl deserved to win btwn a bI-bI wit jacked attitude and a chic that wasn't even from AMERICA!!! come on now. She is the definition of fierce, uniqueness and all. If anything she should be in serious top models magazines like Harper's Bazaar or Vogue. Thank you.

i was upset with a fact at first when she was not selected for cycle 7,later when i saw her being selected for cycle 8, i knew from da day one that she will be definitely amoung top 3 and here she is jaslene being tagged as america's next top model,the next jenice dickenson according to ms j alexander.there is a long way to go jaslene, we want to see you as a covergirl for vogue.hatts off tyra!

The photographs are not appealing even from the commercial sense, but it's Seventeen. Why should it matter of a model smiles with her eyes or not? Modeling for an ad in Seventeen means to fake happiness or a friendly connection. I don't believe haute couture models would find their way into an issue unless it's devoted entirely to the genre. Has anyone ever heard of Jaslene doing print or runway work in any other countries besides Mexico and America? Her resume doesn't include work for Yves Saint Laurent or for Emilio Pucci.
