Think You Ordered Kate Moss for TopShop? Think Again.

May 01, 2007 @ 4:00pm

kate topshop girls.jpg Our saddest email today comes from Fiona in London, who says "both my roommate and I received 'non-apologies' from TopShop because they won't fulfill our Kate Moss for TopShop orders!"

Here's the email she got:

From: "TOPSHOP.COM" To: [Very Miffed Girls] Subject: Your online order with TOPSHOP.COM

We are writing to inform you that due to an issue beyond our control, the items you ordered were unable to be shipped from our warehouse. But please don't worry, you will not be charged for these items.

Don't forget, there's over 200 new additions to the TOPSHOP.COM site each week, and although your requested items are not available, with so many gorgeous new looks you're bound to find something> that will take your fancy.

Kind regards,

TOPSHOP.COM Customer Services

Fortunately for Fiona, every TopShop store except Oxford Circus is reportedly overflowing with Kate clothes - though she may already be over it.

Has anyone else gotten the dreaded "no clothes for you" email?

Don't hate me, but I'm seriously not THAT impressed by Kate's designs. Sure, styled on her and Irina they look chic, but on the average customer? It's almost embarrassing to think about (or, at the very least, uninteresting.) There are a few items I adore and will try to hunt down when the clothes arrive at Barneys (specifically that little floral dress), but for the most part, I won't be boo-hoo-ing if everything's gone before I get my hands on it.

We don't hate you at all - the clothes are a very cool concept but absolutely harder to style on normal girls. It'll be fun to see how they look on people when they hit the states.

more and more random - the stuff I ordered is available online at the moment. Am in two minds whether to order or whether to sulk! As for styling the clothes - in the UK I'm actually a little bit nervous about wearing any of the clothes, since they have had so much exposure at this point.

I logged on at 8PM PST last night from here in LA and kept getting error messages. I just carried on loading pages while I read other sites until topshop cooled down around 9PM.

I too only bought vaguely identifiable basics that I can layer, since I never wear my Proenza Schouler Target blouse -- its such a disposable duds era post-it note. Maybe when Obama's well into his second term I'll pull it out again and think fondly back on the time when fast fashion consumed more of my attention than writing protest letters to the Homeland Security Dept.

Until then, I found that my KM4TS items were quickly sold out from the mother ship by around 9:30, well after my order had been confirmed. Now I see this afternoon that a few of items that were previously sold out have been replenished. No need for so much crazy, I suppose.

What I was really angling for was the black embroidered camisole with matching shorts. Anyone know when those go online? I read somewhere that new pieces would roll out every two weeks. But I also read somewhere that Tobey Maguire was being replaced as Spider-Man and look at him now! Punching fans in Paris and breaking their video cameras. Way to go Peter Parker. Anyway, bet he'd look better in Kate's hideous mothy grey tattoo dress than Kirsten Dunst, who's got a recent taste for offbeat solids (diarrhea satin, anyone?).

See you here again in two weeks? Thx.

im glad to see that i am not the only one unimpressed. i was the first to wait in a long line for my proenza schouler for target, but kate moss does not have the eye of a designer. her eyes are so trained into a certain concept that she would have a hard time coming up with something original. i know the point of it was so that the topshop customer could get something kate moss would wear, but i am not interested in being one kate moss out of a billion others who wear the same thing

I am actually hoping for the e-mail! I got online late last night (after many, many glasses of wine) and spent far more money than I should have :-)

I am waiting until the items arrive before I say how impressed (or not) I am.

I ordered around 9:30 central time...
I got a confirmation number...
but I of course did not write it down. Now when I go to see if my order, it isn't there. wtf? I didn't get an email either. I was also hoping I would. I'm regreting my purchases.

The idea of KMFTS was awesome- much more awesome than the fruit it bore. I didn't order anything, and I don't plan on it. It's all hype.

I suspected that they would actually put the items on sale much earlier then they were telling people. Alas, I checked at 10:00PM Eastern time, and there was a message saying that I had arrived "too early." But I was able to start buying stuff at 10:30. I got an email confirmation of my order (and they have charged my cc), but no email that it's dispatched or anything...
