Jane Gets a Reality Show

Jane magazine is getting its own reality show, called "The Fashionista Diaries."

We have nothing to do with it, but Seventh House PR and Flirt Cosmetics do.

The show's plot revolves around six fashion assistants - two in public relations, two in beauty, and two in magazines - as they scramble to fill their bosses every demand, appear non-threatening to other 20-somethings in their cubicle, and look hot doing it.

The show premiers this July on SoapNet, the network best known for showing insatiable reruns of 90210.

Jane has been gaining readers and revenue since editor Brandon Holley took the reigns last year, but this show is clearly a move to make it even bigger - especially since Teen Vogue's numbers jumped so drastically after The Hills.

The show is produced by Go Go Luckey, the team behind Laguna Beach. We hope Whitney Port makes a cameo, though with her All-American smile and trust fund wardrobe, she's not exactly "So Jane"...

I loved Jane when Jane Pratt was in charge...cancelled my subscription after Brandon put Jessica Simpson on the cover.

No offense to J.Simp, but she's not a Jane girl. This is just another example of how the magazine is getting further from it's origins and turning into a 20-something version of Teen Vogue or Elle.

sure to make Charlotte Ronson hotter, since they "produced" her show & afterparty for the series, right?

have you seen? as a big fan of Jenny Daly (ep on Lisa Loeb's #1 Single, too), hope it does well – it's the first of many beauty + fashion reality shows if it does!

oh. production starts this month. hmmm, as of last week, Seventh House PR/Showroom Seven was looking for interns – cameo opportunity, anyone?

I also stopped reading Jane when Brandon took over. This whole reality show business doesn't sound like something Jane Pratt would've done. Being a "Jane girl" doesn't mean much anymore!

I am so excited for this show! I'm dying to be a fashion publicist and I can't wait to see the people over at Seventh House in action!

Samantha, if you really want to be a fashion publicist, you should email me - my friends are always looking for assistants!

This might have been an interesting idea about 4 years ago. This is TIRED. And sadly, so is Jane. It hasn't been remotely relevant since several years before Ms. Pratt stepped down.

hmmm... I'm not loving jane at all lately. I actually thought it would be folding soon and am surprised they're doing a show even though it's just on soap net. maybe one last try from conde? I don't mean to be negative just think it's lost it's way and edge.

Those who are saying a reality show is so unlike Jane Pratt should do a bit of research. Remember, around the time of "SASSY," Jane jumped ship in order to have a daytime talk show and become a brand name.

I miss Sassy.
It was 10 times the magazine Jane ever was, anyway.

I auditioned for this show! :-) I did an online application and then flew up to NY for a camera test. Obv. I didn't make it, so I'll be excited to see the kind of girls they chose when it does air!

Wow I thought I would hate it, but after watching the video links I was pretty glued to the screen. Must be my background in PR and fashion that makes it irresistible.
Cheers
