Adventures in Copyright Infringement, Part 5

dvf top.jpgdvf 21.jpg

Diane Von Furstenberg is already suing Forever 21 for reproducing her prints.

Now Summer D. writes in to say the battle might not be over:

“Dear Fashionista,

Diane Von Furstenberg vs. Forever 21 again! Here’s her “scattered stone” print from Spring/ Summer ‘07, and now Forever 21’s “Lexi tunic.”

Hooray!”

Diane’s print on the right retails for $180. Forever 21’s print on the left goes for $24.80.

Which will you buy?

I love the DvF dress. I like that the print is big and bright and clear. The F21 dress looks kinda muddy.

DVF. I would much rather reward her for making moderately priced designer clothing than Forever 21 and their cheap knockoffs.

the problem with the forever 21 dresses, as I discovered thursday, is that they're all super short. a few pieces are billed as tunics, but most of the "dresses" hit at the very top of the thigh.

that, or my torso is even longer than I thought it was.

are you kidding me? they're completely different dresses? Maybe DVF doesn't like the fact that what she makes is so blah and basic that her prices aren't justified. It's a freakin' shift dress--she should be sued for knocking that off for the millionth time and not showing any creativity.

Hmm... is Forever 21 the same as Dorothy Perkins in the UK? Because that stone dress looks very familiar. Plus, from DP it comes in cobalt, lime and silver!

heehee. Also, I just realised that there's another commenter on here calling herself Lily (and since I'm new here, I can only assume she's a regular). So, apologies, Lily, I'll change my nickname!
