Libertine for Target: First Look

Libertine_04-prv.jpg
Bitten by SJP might be disappointing, but the first images from Libertine for Target are out, and they're fantastic.

The line launches this August and includes a striped t-shirt dress in green/aqua or red/pink, several skull print sweaters, and embroidered bags and tees with bugs and tree branches. The clothes combine Victorian motifs with sharp, girly shapes like the points of A-line skirts and the diagonal slopes of cardigans against a blouse. The clothes are the color of Crayola.

We remember the movie Seamless, when Anna Wintour compared Libertine's Johnson Hartig and Cindy Greene to Galliano. We think maybe they've departed from that early prediction, going for less art and more commerce, and far too much fun.

Next up: Chip and Pepper launch their first diffusion line, with J.C. Penny, later this year.

See teeny tease pictures of the whole Libertine collection below.

Just what the world needs: New England preppies in lame-o skull vests.

I liked the first and fourth outfits, the dress and jacket. Everything else is cute but not NEED TO HAVE IT.

Funny story- I saw Seamless back in 8th grade when I had no idea who Anna Wintour was or what the CFDA awards were. I remember having to ask the person next to me what the movie was about.

Michelle Rozo- reading the effing story you half-wit. It's designed by Libertine, a super successful team, thats been around for a while... not a "new chick"...

i like the concept, but the color schemes and prints are a little trite and outdated. skulls, trees? I do however, like the graphic polos, i like the one embellished with a horse. I did expect more from Libertine, maybe the accessories will be cool???

i think that some of these items would work really well as layering pieces rather than using the whole look at once, and i personally love the bright colors and the punk/prep look. as for bitten, im extremely disappointed that someone who's surrounded by fashion can only design jumper dresses and cropped flece pants....... same on SJP

My aunt is the designer (Cindy Greene) for Libertine and it is made for teens not old people so if you dont like it then you obiously shouldnt be wearing it. So if your dissing this, you should probly keep shopping at Walmart. They have more your style.
